Comedy/Drama,
Hitch-hiking conmen Bad News Johnson and July Jones arrive in a Midwestern small town with a capital of 25 cents. Taking a room with Mama Lou, whose daughter is entered in a local beauty contest, they pose as Hollywood actors who can train Honey Dew in stagecraft. Meanwhile, Mama's other daughter Florida prepares to elope to Chicago with Johnny, owner of the Juke Joint...where, after a jitterbug contest, Mama herself takes a hand.
At the end of the movie, Mama Lou Holiday (Inez Newell) spanks adult daughter Florida (Katherine Moore) OTK, with a hairbrush, with her skirt raised. Mama Lou hauls a loudly protesting Florida into a bedroom after announcing in the presence of about five people "I'm gonna whup you so you can't sit down for six months" and about 2/3 of the spanking takes place off-camera, with Mama's hairbrush making a steady, rapid drumbeat and Florida squalling at the top of her lungs. Then curiosity gets the better of "Bad News" Johnson (Williams) and "Cornbread" Green (July Jones) and they peer at the scene through a keyhole. Through the keyhole we just see Mama and Florida's pantied bottom and kicking legs. Quite a few strokes land before the scene fades to "The End" (with no sign Mama intended to stop anytime soon).
